He makes cucumber recipes in a shakeable container just about every day of the week, and somehow keeps coming up with more creative options. But out of all the produce in the world, we had to ask, why cucumbers? “Cucumbers are my favorite vegetable!” Moffitt tells Real Simple. “They are super addictive and go well with so many flavors." Throughout his time on TikTok, Moffitt has made some pretty wild cucumber recipes too, but he told us one, in particular, stood out. “I was most shocked that the peanut butter garlic cucumber salad was actually really good,” he said. “I was worried peanut butter and cucumber wouldn’t go well together, but once again, cucumber tastes good with everything.” Ready to give your traditional cucumber recipes a serious upgrade? Here's Moffitt's favorite recipe he's made so far, along with four of our own favorites. 01 of 05 Salmon Cream Cheese Everything Bagel Cucumber Salad Moffitt told us his all-time favorite cucumber recipe is the salmon cream cheese everything bagel salad. “It tastes exactly like a novacado bagel, but with cucumber,” he says. Here, he slices the cucumber and red onion then adds chopped-up smoked salmon, whipped chive cream cheese, capers, avocado, salt, pepper, MSG, and everything bagel seasoning. Shake this one up in a container and be prepared to understand why it's Moffitt’s favorite. But he's not the only one who loves it—he says this recipe “seems to be the most popular” with everyone “probably because it’s the most delicious.” 02 of 05 Sweet and Spicy Those looking for a way to add a little kick to their cucumbers will surely enjoy this one. Slice an entire cucumber, then add Sichuan chili flakes (Moffitt does not play around and adds a hefty scoop) along with honey to give it some sweetness. Before shaking it up, you’ll also add soy sauce, sesame oil, brown rice vinegar, chopped white onion, MSG, and sesame seeds. Moffitt says this one looks nice and spicy and is “seriously so good.” 03 of 05 An On-the-Go Cucumber Recipe You Can Make Anywhere (Literally) The kitchen isn't the only place you can whip up a cool cucumber salad. Moffitt says he was at his grandparents' house when he decided to take his classic OG recipe to the water, slicing the cucumber, and adding all the ingredients in the plastic container before enjoying. “Going in the lake sounded funny to me and I was shocked to see so many other people feel the same,” he said. “When I saw the finished video I did not expect it to be received the way it did but I’m glad I was able to humor some people with the water treading.” To make Moffitt's original cucumber salad, or what he calls "the perfect recipe," simply slice the cucumber and place it in a container. Then add soy sauce, fish sauce, MSG, rice wine vinegar, one clove of grated garlic, sugar, a little chili oil, green onion, and sesame seeds. Shake it up super well and voila! Moffitt admits even though he makes this recipe all the time, he always forgets just how good it is. 04 of 05 Greek Yogurt, Feta, and Lemon Cucumber Salad For this refreshing Greek-inspired take on cucumber salad, Moffit adds several spoonfuls of Greek yogurt, grated feta cheese, MSG, a clove of grated garlic, some freshly chopped mint, and lemon juice. 05 of 05 Swap Out Cucumber With Raw Onion Even if cucumbers aren't your thing, there are still recipes to take away from Moffitt's extensive collection. For example, this one calls for an entire red onion instead of a cucumber which he says is “exclusively for raw onion lovers." First, he slices the onion, then adds red pepper paste, Kewpie mayo, soy sauce, MSG, sesame oil, green chili flakes, and sesame seeds. Moffitt warns this recipe “burns the nostrils so good” but is incredibly tasty. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
