Real Simple's Editorial Guidelines Published on September 11, 2024 Close Photo: Trader Joes That slight chill in the air signifies fall is here, which means the aisles of your local Trader Joe’s are now filled with seasonal finds such as Apple Shortbread Cookies and Savory Squash Pastry Bites, not to mention any of the 73 pumpkin products you can now buy. To welcome the new season, Trader Joe’s employees Matt Sloan, customer relations communications director, and Tara Miller, vice president of marketing, hosted a new episode of the Inside Trader Joe’s podcast dedicated entirely to the best new (and returning) autumnal finds. Ready to know which products you should add to your Trader Joe’s fall 2024 shopping list? Designed to be sipped hot or cold, this bottled drink is perfect for pumpkin spice fans. “I think if you're into pumpkin spice, you'd be crazy not to give this a try,” Sloan declared. Mix with two parts milk or water (if you so choose) and enjoy. Pumpkin Spice Mini Sheet Cake New sheet cake alert! This limited treat, which is already in stores, is not to be missed. It boasts a spongy base that’s flavored with pumpkin purée and warm spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, but that’s not even the best part. According to Miller, the “delightfully creamy” cream-cheese frosting that’s piped on top of this dessert is the real star here. This cake is ideal for a special, autumnal occasion, such as a birthday or dinner party, but you certainly don’t need an excuse to dig in. Vanilla Pumpkin Scented Hand Soap This soap used to be sold with a companion hand cream, but can now be found on its own starting today. Sloan is a fan of this household must-have, which he says has a “buttery, creamy kind of smell” akin to the aforementioned sheet cake. “It's really warm and comforting and sort of soothing,” he says. Chocolatey Caramel Pretzel Drumstick Decorating Kit Savory drumsticks (like turkey or chicken) are great, but they’ve got nothing on this new sweet drumstick decorating kit, which is the brainchild of a TJ’s employee named Arlene. Each kit includes pretzel sticks, soft caramels you can mold onto said pretzels, and chocolate you can melt to dip the pretzels in. Once the chocolate has set, you can go ahead and decorate your homemade “drumsticks” with colorful sprinkles, which are also part of the kit. This is great craft to do with little ones or with pals at a Friendsgiving celebration. Expect to see this fun (and “not supper messy”) kit on Trader Joe’s shelves at the end of October. German Iced Gingerbread Soft Spiced Cookies If you’ve ever been to a European Christmas market, these holiday treats will look (and taste) familiar. These “beautiful” cookies feature a gingerbread base topped with a classic sugar icing. “There's a chew to it,” Sloan said of the cookies. “If you like cookies like Lebkuchen, I think you will flip out for this new gingerbread cookie.” Consider us intrigued! All Butter Apple Shortbread Cookies As the name implies, butter is the shortening ingredient of choice for these England-made cookies. Described as “the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon tea,” these new confections have a “toasted apple” flavor, according to Sloan. “[It] tastes like it's made with apples, not flavored by something adjacent to apple,” he added. Shoppers can expect to find these cookies in TJ’s stores around the middle of September. How to Find Delicious Trader Joe's Recipes, According to Employees White Stilton Cheese with Apple & Pear Trader Joe’s has one of the most impressive cheese departments around, so it’s no surprise that this new offering sounds downright delicious. This young cheese boasts a crumbly texture, and is loaded with a sweet apple and pear compote, as well as dried red apple pieces. Crumble this cheese on a salad, or pop it on a cheese board for your next fall gathering. You can’t go wrong here! Butter with Brown Sugar and Maple Syrup This compound butter is made with, well, butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup, and is currently in stores. Developed by a Trader Joe’s employee named Hasmik, this packaged item will shine on toast, pancakes, or waffles. For something a bit more out of the box, use this flavorful butter when making grilled cheese with apple slices, roasted carrots, or roasted sweet potatoes. According to Miller, this whipped butter is not super sweet thanks to a touch of salt. Limone Premuto Extra Virgin Olive Oil The name of this olive oil translates to “pressed lemon,” which makes sense given that the “clean flavored” condiment is pressed with whole Sicilian lemons. Use this brightly flavored olive oil to “get chefy” and finish a soup, grilled vegetables, or a bowl of fresh pasta. Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese This longtime Trader Joe’s favorite is back! And while this item usually sells out before the season is over, Hasmik promises that the TJ’s team ordered plenty this year. As she put it, “We bought a lot, a lot.” For those of you who might not be familiar with the Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese, the frozen item features pasta bathed in a traditional béchamel sauce mixed with subtly sweet butternut squash purée. You’ll also find a cheese blend made with Gouda, Cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses, as well as a sprinkling of sage. Savory Squash Pastry Bites If you’ve got a fall party coming up, these pastry bites (which you can currently find in the freezer aisle) better be on your shopping list. They’re made with puff pastry and a blend of squashes, as well as an array of different cheeses such as Parmesan and feta. “If you like those Caramelized Onion and Feta Bites, these are very similar,” Sloan shared. “[This is a] little new angle on what has been a classic customer favorite.” For the crispiest results, pop these bites in the air fryer or oven. Caesar Broccoli Bake Kit This new item looks like a bagged salad, but can be placed in a casserole dish and baked in the oven to yield a “wonderfully savory broccoli side dish in just a couple minutes.” Expect to taste “all the high notes that you come to expect from a classic Caesar flavor profile,” according to Sloan, including anchovies. Find this in the refrigerated section starting soon. 10 Trader Joe’s Products Chefs Love Hoisin Sauce This condiment is widely used in Asian recipes, and is flavored with cardamom, star anise, and black pepper, among other spices. Sure, you can use this in moo shu, but as Sloan points out, it also pairs well with roasted root vegetables, soup that needs a little flavor, Chinese-style barbecue, and even homemade salad dressings. Unlike many other newbies on this list, the hoisin sauce is slated to become an everyday product that will be stocked beyond fall. Vanilla Cardamom Flavored Cold Brew Coffee You don’t need to add any water or milk to this ready-to-drink cold brew coffee, which is packed with flavor. Sold in a 32-ounce bottle, you’ll find “fall-ish” flavors in this coffee courtesy of warming cardamom and vanilla. Yum! Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
