Food Kitchen Tools & Products My Amateur Chef Mom Only Orders Her Kitchen Tools From Amazon—Here's What She Can't Cook Without Everything is under $25 and actually useful. Real Simple's Editorial Guidelines Published on April 7, 2024 07:00AM EDT Photo: Real Simple / Tyler Roeland My mom is an avid Amazon shopper. She’s also a former dietician and cook who used to oversee menus for corporate canteens. And having grown up in the restaurant business, she was never not around a kitchen. So as someone who fully knows her way around the kitchen in terms of cooking, you can bet she also knows everything about how to keep it just as clean and organized, too. You know what else you can bet she does? Send me screenshots of all the Amazon tools that either her social media algorithm fed her or her own research brought her to. “Euna, I have something I need” is her favorite phrase. And, of course, as the Prime account holder, I oblige and hit “add to cart”—it’s my mom after all. I will admit, though, she truly does use everything she buys. From lid organizers that double as a spoon rest to stainless steel-dedicated, non-scratch scrubbing sponges, Mrs. Park has all the kitchen tools you could need to keep your space in tip top shape. Plus, she loves a good deal, so almost everything is always under $20. But with that love comes the “love” of having to keep it looking nice and clean. She has pots and pans that are nearly 20-years-old that are impressively clean, enough so that her friends are always flabbergasted with the pristine condition. This Wet-it Skrubba scouring cloth is the latest addition to her cleaning arsenal for said stainless steel cookware; it’s soft but abrasive enough to work through dried-on food at the bottom of her pots and pans—she uses it on her cooktop, too—without leaving any surface scratches. She uses it with her favorite dish soap and with a little bit of scrubbing, everything comes out nice and shiny. Plus, the cloth is made with nontoxic coating, so it’s equally as safe to use to scrub root vegetables. Bella Rapid Electric Egg Cooker Amazon Orig. $16 $14 at Amazon After buying one for herself, my mom bought six more of these egg cookers for her friends. It’s cut down her egg-boiling routine to just minutes, and she doesn’t have to waste as much water to cook the eggs, too. Just place your eggs into the dedicated grooves, use the measuring cup to add the appropriate amount of water (just a few tablespoons versus a full pot), turn on the power switch, and wait until the auto shut off comes on. You’ll have perfectly cooked eggs in less than 10 minutes. The cooker comes in various colors and in a seven- or 14-egg capacity and is compact, so it doesn’t take up too much countertop space and is easy to store away. Sunfcon Pot Pan Lids Holder Amazon $15 at Amazon With all the cooking my mom does, there is always a lid that’s dripping condensation from the steam onto a surface somewhere. And, there are always multiple lids, too. She wanted to find a small organizer to help keep the lids from rolling around and making a mess, so sent me this Sunfcon holder that has two racks and a removable drip tray. It also doubles as a spoon rest for all her cooking utensils, too. The size of the holder is small enough to keep her countertops looking neat and not take up too much space, and it’s easy to clean with a quick rinse once she’s done cooking. Though the item itself feels lightweight, she’s found that it stays put once the lids are all on it thanks to the added weight. Zulay Milk Frother Amazon Orig. $17 $10 at Amazon My mom loves her warm morning latte, so she uses a handheld blender to froth up her milk. It’s light, has a strong spin, and foams up her mix of warm milk and collagen powder within a few seconds. The original frother she—actually, I—bought lasted three years before it bit the dust after daily use. She spent a few days without it (the new one took two days to get delivered), so she was just mixing her milk into her coffee with a stirrer and clearly dissatisfied by the absence of frothy milk. The result? There’s now another backup frother somewhere in the kitchen. But at such a low price point, it wasn’t a hard decision to just press checkout on another frother. It feels common enough that a child asks their parents for advice on how to cook, clean, or fix something. But who would’ve thought they’d also be better at finding Amazon kitchen tools that are budget-friendly and actually useful.
