If not, you may want to check which of your favorite grocery stores are open—or closed—during the holiday. Labor Day, which takes place on Monday, September 2, is an important celebration of working Americans, so it’s likely your go-to grocery store clerk will be off the clock (and deservedly so!). To help you plan ahead, find out whether Costco, Aldi, and Trader Joe’s will be open on Labor Day, along with a brief list of stores that will be open or operating with limited hours. Costco Unfortunately, no. Last year, Costco released a comprehensive list of holidays when warehouses are closed, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. If you’re planning on making a Costco run this weekend, make sure you do so before Monday. Aldi Aldi will operate with limited hours on Labor Day, according to its website. Limited operating hours typically mean the store will close in the late afternoon or early evening. If you’re shopping at Aldi on Labor Day, make sure to get there early—otherwise, plan ahead and get your groceries as soon as possible. Trader Joe’s Fear not—Trader Joe’s is operating with regular hours this Labor Day. If you need to pick up any last-minute groceries, head to your nearest Trader Joe’s on Monday, September 2. Just be sure you know which store you’re going to and what the specific hours will be. Additional Grocery Stores Open on Labor Day In case you’re wondering, there are a handful of businesses that will keep their doors open on Labor Day. Kroger, Piggly Wiggly, Publix, Safeway, Target, Walmart, and Whole Foods are just a few grocery stores that will stick to their regular hours during the holiday weekend. In addition to Aldi’s adjusted hours, Sam’s Club will operate on similar hours (with Plus members allowed in earlier than regular members). While it may be more ideal to save yourself the time, effort, and energy it takes to shop in a crowded store, there’s no doubt you’ll have multiple options to fall back on this Monday.
