Considering my hair is extensively styled with layers throughout, my frizz issue extends to all of my hair, not just my crown, and it's an issue I'm constantly dealing with. And as a curly-haired girly, I always get giddy with excitement when a brand introduces a new frizz-fighter to their line of products, especially with the humidity of spring headed our way. This time, it's in the form of a 1-minute in-shower treatment from one of my most-trusted hair care brands, Amika. I'm talking about the new Smooth Over Hair Treatment.

This silkening rinse-out serum is powered by three key actives: glycolic acid, an AHA that lays down and seals the hair cuticle, smoothing water lily extract, and Amika's flagship ingredient, nourishing sea buckthorn, which is packed with fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins C and D. According to the brand, the treatment is also safe for color and chemically treated hair and can work for all hair types combating frizz.

The consistency of this $32 serum feels like a thick jelly, but when it washes off, it doesn't leave my fine hair looking weighed down or greasy. Following the brand's instructions, I wring out my hair after my usual shampoo and conditioner and saturate it with the treatment, starting at mid-length using the precision nozzle. After 60 seconds, I wash it out and either towel dry or heat style my mane, although the brand suggests the latter for best results.

Even when I don't blow dry my tresses, the difference is stark when using the treatment. Thanks to the slew of smoothing ingredients, my hair feels silky and soft and looks far less frizzy when it dries. Something to note is that Amika products are typically heavily scented (which I totally prefer), and this serum is no exception. It carries a bold floral-inspired fragrance that I adore, but it also lingers in your hair after styling. So, if you're sensitive or picky about scents, maybe skip this one.
